Lotocone Mount.JPG and
Hi All,
I am welding some used Lotocone mounts on my Elan chassis and I need to know the length of the red arrow in the attached drawing. (the Lotocone mounts have been shortened a bit when they were cut off the donor chassis). If anyone has a chassis lying around that they would be willing to measure for me I would be much obliged. Thanks.
Regards,
Jon Bathmaker

Jon,
Am just replacing lotocones, bearings and inner and outer driveshafts, so have easy access to the top of the suspension turret.
The lotocone hole is 80mm diameter. The distance from the centre of the upright section of the turret to the edge of the hole is 20mm. So, the dimension you're after would be 60mm. Might be worthwhile having someone else confirm it before welding. Measure twice, weld once.
Regards,
Colin.
P.S. Just noticed your moniker "Jonnyplus2". The measurements above are from my '68 S4. Might be different.
Colin.

I picked up my chassis 12 hours ago and got home after dark so I just covered them up in the back of the F250 with a piece of membrane roofing so I had access to them. It's just after 1 a.m. so it was a good background (black) for a photo or two. the other drawing may help too.

Thank you gentlemen. A statistical sample of two is accurate enough for this cowboy. ("I'm an old cowhand from the West of England").

This will help me to weld up the Lotocone mounts accurately. My "handle", JonnyPlus2 was created when I was Lotus-less and looking for a Plus 2. But an early S3 AirFlow coupe came up at a price that was irresistible, although it lacked many things, such as a motor, transmission and all the interior bits. But WTH, it's like a car loan that you pay when you have the $$$. Plus I get to do it my way.

Thanks again. This is really great. I've been gnashing my teeth over this step but now I can go ahead on Saturday morning.

Best Regards,
Jon Bathmaker
