Hi All,

Should there be access grommets in the bodywork above the front dampers?

Thanks,

Simon

Pictures of my car - that's not to say yours will be the same.

My advice would be to drill a small hole as per the dimensions just to make sure that it is line with the strut before drilling the 50mm holes.

Ditto on my S3 Coupe i.e. 1 at the front, but 2 for the struts.

Brian had shown the rears...does that mean some have only one for rear struts?

No Richard, there should always be 2 for the rear struts, but it appears that there is normally only one above one of the front shocks. I think this is because the body moulding comes down to low on 1 side of the car at the front, and the top of the shock pokes through, therefore not allowing a grommit to be fitted.

My S2 doesn't have any official holes but the drvers side (RHD) has poked through the glass.

My S2 has holes on both sides in the front, and while they are intentionally cut holes rather than created by the shock top poking through, they hardly look official, even by Lotus standards. No grommets up front. I assume the holes were "installed" by the DPO that predated even my dad and myself. They match the, er, "utility finish" standards of the diamond shape cutouts in the boot to give access to the Frustacones for the diff mounting.

Which begs the questions (sorry to hijack the thread), were there standard access holes in the boot to get to the Frustacones, or were they just glassed over? Photos would be awesome. Thanks.

Dave

Are these grommets available and who would be a good source?

Thanks,

Just a question should there not be a rubber edge strip around the Body Lip above the Hood Tray just touching the Tennax Studs ??
