Hi does anyone else use a Thor hammer (copper/leather) to loosen/tighten their wheel spinners?

If so can you please advise what size I should get...No 1 looks too small, number 3 looks pretty hefty....Number 2, as Goldilocks might say, could be just right.

Will need to buy from UK or USA unseen on fleabay (no longer sold in Oz) hence my question.

I have a Thor hammer exactly as that being sold on fleabay - perfect for the job.

Me too. Works just fine. Only minor problem is the hide end tends to dry out over time and loosen in the head but a couple of hours in a bucket of water and it's as good as new.

Do I not recall one of your previous tag lines was that "if you can't fix it with a hammer then you must have an electrical problem"? My apologies for the diversion.

Jason, been there after spending more than I ever thought on a restore. A little hammer story---While driving my wife around, showing off my newly restored pride and joy a spinner came loose and I did not have a hammer in the car. I had to resort to a piece of wood and a rock found on the side of the road. She asked do I even have a jack? My manhood was in jeopardy. She still laughs at me in fun.
With friends and I get overly enthused about the lotus, she bring up this funny story again.
Robert, others recommend a heavy lead hammer, it has a greater impact and saves the chrome on the spinner.

Ouch, how did you notice that before the wheel fell off?

Hi Bill, I was driving about 25 mph when I felt a abnormal vibration, like a flat tire. Pulled over and the back right side spinner was finger loose just enough to cause the wheel to wobble. The spinner had loosened about 3/4 of a turn from tight. For the wheel to fall off the spinner would have had to spin off the hub, which could happen fast. The lessen is, if you feel any vibration that has just started ---Pull over. Could have been bad. Aside from beating the spinners up and chipping paint, the second reason I developed my tool was to know what torque I applied to the spinners.
To stay on subject, I have been told --- finger tight and three good blows with a lead hammer should secure your wheels.
