+2 S130/5 Servo - where to get?

PostPost by: Robbie693 » Sat Jan 30, 2010 1:09 pm

Just to back up what Graham wrote, when I got my car I had the same problems with the sticking Lockheed servo. I spoke to Delphi and the guy in the tech department seemed quite surprised that I didn't have a spring. He sent me some brake grease for the plunger but, at the same time, a similar discussion came up here and the spring was mentioned. A kind member of this forum sent me a spring that would fit in the air cap and this resolved the issue.

Since then I have replaced the servo with another Lockheed unit (part of a mis-diagnosis of a brake problem) and, although I kept the spring in case, the problem hasn't returned. Yet. This is despite the pitifully little use my car has had in the last year.

Hi Martin,

Did you find out what went wrong?

I had the same thing happening to my car last year. Brake fluid gone, and I suspected it was sucked into the servos (I have two). However, eventually I found out that all brake fluid had gone into the foot well, and that this was caused by corrosion in the brake master cylinder. There was no sign of fluid on the carpets.
I had my break cylinder refurbished by a specialist in England in October, cylinder came back as new for 150 pounds,

Thanks Graham,

I will have a look for the spring in my servo when I have a chance.

Dave Chapman.
