Filing down front axle castellated nut

Hi Men, Richard,
How is your car going Richard? Well I hope!

Just a quick word on the endfloat on the front hubs. Carefull setting of the endfloat. I set it to 002 -004 '' This setting did not half allow a fair amount of 'rock' out at the tyre if you like. My MOT man did not like this at all so we adjusted it in situ there n then (Sort of pre mot) I upped the torque to settle the bearings to about 20lb/' all the time turning the hub to help it seat ok. Backed it off completely and just removed the end float. Only just! No tightness at all on the nut. Could not get plit pin in as the castle's did not line up. A quick trip home with the nuts and a slight rub on the linisher produced the result and the pins just nicley slipped into place. You can 'rock'
the nuts slightly side to side and there is no endfloat . = no rock out at the tyre. The car also feels better on the road.

Time will tell I suppose but I am keeping a close eye on the hubs. Fine so far with zero endfloat (but NOT tight nuts) I will let you know if it goes T*ts up!!
