1968 steel wheel colour?

looking at all 5 wheels they have black in centre with grey outside of chrome trims . the grey has been oversprayed with metallic in past . can anyone provide me with correct spec pls ?

Rich, the early Plus 2s cars all had plain silver wheels (check out the advertising of the day).

The black wheels with chrome rims were introduced (anyone care to verify this and provide a chassis number change point) for the "S".

Just to clarify, the chrome rims were not imbellishers. ie chrome plating was directly on the rim of the wheel and then the rim was riverted to the centre part of the wheel.

looks like original colour was grey ... maybe this was undercoat?
i presume the silver was a metallic finish , the specific code for it would be good if anyone can help.

Rustoleum Hard Hat #2115 Aluminum very closely matches the original silver.

The very first few cars did have grey painted wheels. Nobody seems to know how many, but it seems that up to around chassis #50 had them. So there may well have been a few spare grey ones about, or somebody just fancied painting them in that colour?

I've googled rustoleum and come up with Rawlins.
witha bit o luck if i order first think i might get it for the weekend!
