I've fitted the +2 calipers so no longer need the connection from the onlet manifold. What is the neatest way to blank this off? Photo attached of the redundant connection in question.

PS Anyone know the exact colour of my engine - as glimpsed on the photo - its a light blue as painted by Vegantune in the 1980s when they rebuilt it and could do with a bit of paint in one or two areas.

Can you remove the whole of that T-piece & screw the brass hose tail directly into the manifold, or does the hexagonal brass bit contain the one-way ball valve?

If so, I would either fit a 'suitable plastic cap' over the servo pipe connector, or remove the connector & fit a blanking plug.

I have ascertained that the one way valve is in the bit where I have attached the hose. I've Googled "Blanking plugs" and found suppliers. I can't see this connector in the parts manual but am guessing it may be a BSP thread. I wonder if anyone knows the correct size blanking plug I would need.

I've got a suitable blanking plug if you want one. I'd be interested to hear your opinions on the new braking system since I've recently converted my car plus- I live in Liverpool so perhaps we might meet up some time.

Hi All,
Richard. I am sure its BSP. Either 1/4'' or 1/8'' dia, one of the two! . Easy to get from a local air line components supplier. You can also get non return valve ass'y without the 't' pc part. Just a straight line connection if you like. Put a little sealant on the threads.

Having had another look at your pic I think you can take the t pc part off the non return valve assy and screw same directly into your manifold. Hold the hex of the part you dont need (T pc) in the vice gently and spanner off the non return valve. Screw same straight into the same hole in the manifold. You might have to remove 't' pc 1st before you can unscrew the assy from the head.

Clear as mud?

My S4 doesn't have a servo, never did as far as I can tell. That little brass bit that you hooked the tube onto for the headlamps is all I have and it screws directly into the manifold. You should be able to remove the t-piece. Dan

John - I haven't yet tried the brakes as I am still a little way from finishing the renovations [nearly 2 years now but getting closer!]. I will send you a PM

It is a 1/8 tapered pipe thread, not sure if BSP or NPT. I have 1/8 NPT in my heads. As my own DPO I my have jammed in an NPT where a BSP was intended.

Rusty??!! Its a very nice shade of red! My engine has a bit of history and cost me a lot of money in the early 80s. It has always had the wrong cam cover - I have a Big Valve cam cover to fit but this is going to be the last job - I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will fire up ok and if she does then on goes the Big Valve cover!!
