Hi!
Can someone tell me where I can get shims for the inner track
rod ball joints? Sue Miller and P.M. don`t do them, and I can`t
find them in Rimmer`s Spitfire parts catalogue either.
Regards
Petter

Dave Bean Engineering (http://www.davebean.com/) lists these shims in .002" and .010" thicknesses in his catalogue. Moss Motors (http://www.mossmotors.com/) also lists them in the same thicknesses but for the Spitfire MkIV, not sure if they would be the same. I have no idea what either may actually have on the shelf. These would be fairly easy to duplicate from shim stock.

Shims Inner Track Rod Ball Joints

For the Triumph steering rack, I've measured the inner track rod shims as 26mmOD, 17mmID. My shim pack thickness was 0.62mm (approx 24 thou) total.

Note, in case anyone has trouble obtaining these, ondrives has precison shims 25mm OD / 18mm ID.

Would probably work OK.

Regards

Gerry

Hi.
Thanks for the information.
Moss Europe, London, have the .002" shims but the .010"
shims are out of stock, so I had to order another 5 of the .002".
Petter.
