Parking brake dash light bulb replacement

PostPost by: klev » Sun Jul 10, 2005 2:57 am

I have an S3 with the parking brake (on) warning light on the dash. How does the fixture come apart for bulb replacement?

Thanks and Happy Motoring

Ken,
If its just the normal round warning light on the dash, the fitting is just pushed in from the front of the dash and the bulb & bulb holder is then pushed into the fitting from the rear, pull on the bulb holder from the rear and it should come out complete with bulb, holder & wires.

Thanks Brian. The front piece and the back piece seem wedded quite tightly. The front (lens) is round and it's red. The part behind the dash with wires attached is a cylinder of black plastic. Is this the one you describe?

Yes, the clyinder of black plastic is part of the front lens, the bulb holder pushes into the black plastic tube, just tug on the wires as its difficult to grip the bulb holder.

Mission accomplished! One is always hesitant to tug on wires. Thanks.

Now I need to find a replacement bulb. In many years of working on various marques from several countries, this is a new one to me.

Klev, If it is the little bayonet type I had no trouble sourcing them from the ususal suspects(dave Bean in my case). Actually I had no trouble getting ANY of the lamps for the dash/fascia indicators or instruments.

Mike,
That's good news, since I have found some parts unobtainable. I'll be contacting db or Kampena shortly since they're in my area. Thanks.
