Tony Thompson 26R steering wheels

Does anybody know the diameter of the rim, not the 13" OD but the part that you put your hands on?
It looks smaller than a Moto-Lita leather rim but larger than the wooden Moto-Lita one.

Jannik
It's delicate, about 2.2 cm and quite in keeping with the period unlike than the more chunky wheels now in fashion. It's very much a metter of what you like the feel of.

Hi i received my TTR wheel yesterday.... it?s looks beatiful now to the downside !!

They leather part is nearly as small in dia as my original wheel would prefered some bigger dia like christians red one !!
And hornbutton doesn?t fit it?s to small and inner column protrude to much and must be shortened some ~0.5 cm

Anyone familliar with this ?

I will check in the morning and try and remember to take a photo for you but for me I am 110% happy with mine, but maybe I should have gone the red version....

Well done guys, I know what wheel I'm getting now, that looks fantastic and just the right size. I have a nasty one at the moment and was going to hold out for an original but they are all too big (and rare). Now, red or black?

I solved my problem by cutting inner column 0.5cm and the problem with my to small horn push seems to be that I?m missing a clip..... problem solved and steering wheel is now installed. :D

My wife told me last night that she has ordered it! She phoned up and said "Hello I would like to order part number TTRSS 016 STEERING WHEEL 26R PATTERN POLISHED ALLOY SPOKES WITH BEST CONNOLLEY LEATH..." He interrupted to say "Would you like the red or the black one?"

I'm so excited! I might only be able to push the car onto the driveway and sit and hold it, possibly making engine noises, but I can think of worse ways to spend a weekend.

So did she know the answer, or did she just order one of each?

She did , it's in the part number, and I reiterated several times that I wanted the red one. Although if it came in black I would see it as fate as I was really torn which colour to go for. Probably 60% towards red. If my car wasn't (mostly) red I probably would have gone for black. It was the picture of the red one that Old English White posted that swayed me towards it. Now I just need to get the proper horn push. I was watching one on FleaBay and the winning bid was more than my new TTR wheel!

Darn it, I missed that one.

There's another black one now, but with a starting bid of ?75.

I'm not sure if I want a black one either, I feel that my horn push should be the same as the nose badge.

I've just seen that r.d. enterprises sell horn pushes for $86.00
http://www.rdent.com/

Has anyone bought one of these? Are they of good quality and close to the original appearance?

The rdent.com horn push is exactly like the original, except for the logo artwork. The LOTUS logo is smaller, being inscribed within a chrome finished outer circle, and the lettering is the later serif style.

I have fitted Momo Monte Carlo 320s to both my Elan and my 2002Tii. I like the elliptical cross section of the rim, the position of the spokes, and the over-all simplicity. Plus, it's nice to have the same wheel in each of my performance cars.

My Elan came with an original S2 wheel (as well as two aftermarket wheels) that I didn't need, and so I sold it for about 10% of what the entire car cost me. Color me happy! :D
