What is the correct way to tighten the knock on wheel spinners on a baby elan. And how many knocks does it take to get them tight usually

Keep whacking them sharply until they stop turning. You are aiming for 200ftlbs which is jolly tight.

The Lotus Manual reads that the torque load for octagonal wheel nuts should be between 160-180 ft lbs. I would guess the load should be about the same for spinners. There is a tool available to drive spinners from a tool firm in the US. I don't know about the availablity of similar items in other countries.

Reportedly Baum Tools has the spinner drive.

The Lotus spinner drive is not their website, so you will need to contact them.
