Rear Suspension

PostPost by: hat » Sat May 07, 2005 2:04 pm

I would be grateful for a pointer from somebody as to the likley problem here.

Finally took the old girl for the first tentative drive and it sounded like the right rear wheel was about to fall off. Holding the top of the tyre and rocking in and out there is a considerable amount of play, somewhere.

Doesnt seem to be the bearings, I re torqued the nut and no better. It seems like the hup and bearing assembly is moving in and out at the top due to play in the spring/ shock absorber unit.

Thanks

Graeme

If you have replaced the shocks check that the gland nut (holds down the insert) is tight, you can get to it if you jack up the rear (suspension free) and you can get through the spring coils.
