Polyurethane bushes

PostPost by: Dave-M » Mon Jan 30, 2006 1:50 pm

Can anyone tell me the best lubricant for assembling PU bushes to suspension arms/ shafts.
As the bushes move relative to the shaft or arm, lubrication must be vital for longevity.

When I fitted poly bushes to my S4 the bushes came with some lube included in the kit. Alas I have no idea what the lube actually was. May be some form of silicon lube :? Try contacting www.powerflex.co.uk as they are a UK manufacturer of poly bushes, they should know.

Hi Dave

In the past I have used soapy water. I have never had a problem with this attacking the bushes and it's cheap :D

When I asked TTR about this, they said that the poly bushes simply push in (dry).
If there is a stainless inner sleeve, then the Powerflex lubricant (which TTR includes) is used to allow the sleeve to be inserted.

I'd be pleased if you were to check this, and post back your findings.

Stuart.
