Rear Strut Bearing

PostPost by: Dave-M » Tue Jan 17, 2006 3:01 pm

In the recent Parts for sale posting (Elan parts for sale) The last item on the list was a pair of spherical bearings for the top of the rear struts. Does anyone know about these items? Are they good or bad?
On the face of it, it seems a good mod to replace the Lotocones.

Dave,
I have them on my +2 and are fine. You will need a spacer as the bearing is shorter than the lotacone.
Just make sure the bearing is tight in the housing or it will chatter as the suspension works.

Are you in NYLOC? I shall not be at the Jan meeting but I'll see you at a future meet.

I saw them too but couldn't see much advantage as the vibrations from the road wouldn't be decoupled which could be a bit of pain. For track use maybe they are a better idea.
