Brake Servo - Air Filter

The air filter mounts on the servo near wher the vacuum hose connects and filters the air sucked in by the vacuum system that powers the servo booster. It is a small plastic canister about 40mm long and 20mm diameter. If you need I can post a photo of the one on my plus 2

I was afraid of that. Being a natural shape to collect water, and being where it is on the Elan (right under the left front lip of the bonnet), the screw in mine is now a pile of rust. Well - I always wanted a set of easy-outs. After this I'll fit a cover to avoid a repeat......

The same thing happened to me. I managed to drill the screw out and retap the hole. I then used a nylon screw to hold the filter in. It worked for me and I never had any problems. I think the poblem is due to a mild steel screw in a alloy hole with an electrolyte (i.e. water).
