Anyone know if the older style metal master cylinder cap will fit the thread of the newer sovy cap size?
Current cap has 64mm embossed on it but cyl thread outside diameter measures approx 61mm.
Looks like I was right in that the cap that's currently on is from an easy bleed kit.
Just bought one and it doesn't have my size cap in so I'm not wanting to butcher this as I'll need it to bleed the system.

Don't know about any older styles but if you buy a replacement cylinder it comes with a metal cap on it. On that basis if you can order a cap only it will fit your mc. I replaced the rusty metal ring part by using the new cap with the centre cut out when I renewed the mc.

Decided to try making my own up.
Bought older style metal cap and cut hole in top
Split new Jag sovy unit and fitted plastic top through hole from below with rubber gasket to give good seal
Shorten shaft after careful measuring
Shorten case to suit
Crimp case back onto plastic case
New cap rubber washer in
Job done. Screw cap on and line up terminals to suit wire location
Pretty happy with the travel for fluid sensor and done think the case and cork displace too much fluid for it to be an issue
Next job is to flush through brake fluid and then bleed.
