Hello,

I am looking for some insight into how to replace the following seal:

No idea how to get it off and on.

Slide a small screwdriver behind the seal, use the screwdriver to lever the seal over the end of the shaft.

Depending on how stiff the new seal is, you can stretch it over using your fingers, if not (as they say) assembly is the reverse of disassembly.

A bit of lube helps - as I assume you are ditching the old seal then you could use oil. When you refit the new seal, only use brake fluid.

You can cut the old one off. The new one will stretch over the lumpy bits ok with a bit of finger work. Definitely lurbricate it but you are better using a caster oil based brake assembly lube than brake fluid. It is more slippery and doesn’t attract moisture like brake fluid which means you can store the assembled cylinder for some time without risk of corrosion
