Dellorto Air Bleeding Screw

PostPost by: ennio wong » Thu Aug 26, 2004 7:26 pm

I'm a newbie of elan world. Just bought a +2 130/5 with dellortos.

I found that there is a screw with locknut next to the pressure connection plug on the carbs which is not mentioned in the workshop manual. After checking through the internet, some information said that this is air bleeding screw for and just leave it fully closed. Should I just follow their instruction and close it?

Thanks in advance.

The bleed screw is used to achieve a fine balance between the two barrels of a single carburetor. Similarly, the inter-carb linkage is used to achieve a balance between the two carburetors themselves. By careful tuning, all four throats can be adjusted to an equal flow.

When tuning, you should certainly start with all four of these closed. When finished, only one screw per carburetor (if any) should be opened.

Thanks John,

Is that mean I have to use a 4-column manometer to check the balance?

Thanks!
