Does anyone know what car the S1 gas cap was taken from? A Bugeye Sprite or MG of some sort perhaps? My two S1 projects came without the screw on ca[s/

Thanks!

I had the same problem with my Elan 1600, unit no 0045. Someone upgraded to the flip style cap. I talked with Mike Ostrov and he thought they might be modified type 14 Elite fillers, unsure about the cap. He had one for an Elan in one of his storage bins and I bought it. At the time I could not find an alternate source. Sorry I can't be of more help. Gary

Hi Zog, it's my understanding that this cap may be a suitable substitute. We look forward to seeing your next projects come alive!

Thanks for the responses. I am making good progress on the Wilma from Wilmington Elan.

Those caps used to be on just about everything British. Common on motorcycles as well I believe. I think I have a couple that I bought from a flea market brand new in the box. Have to dig to find them.

It's a Ford fitting as I acquired one from an early Escort and eventually had a pentagonal locking one made specially with Ford catches which has lasted fifty years.
