Carb synchrometer mods to fit?

PostPost by: elaninfuture » Sun Oct 24, 2021 4:32 am

The synch tool I use on downdraft Webers will not fit between the sidedraft carbs and the body in my Elan. I'm off to the hardware store for some tubing to modify, but I wanted to check to see if anyone has the "MacGyver plan" already thought out.

Thank you,

Joe

I have one of these - a bit tight on the front trumpet but fits OK. Available for around £35 on Ebay. D

To give you some solution it would be necessary to know which synchrometer make/model you have now.

Joe, I have the same tool as TGB and no extra 'tooling' is required. What is the length of your
trumpets?

As above, i use the Sk Synchrometer but i have to use an elbow attachment to use it on the +2

I've tried a few different sync tools and the SK works best for me, the main thing i like is it doesn't cause too much of a vacuum in the inlet/carb causing it to flood that cylinder like some i have used in the past.

Thanks guys. I also use the SK as above. Mine wouldn't fit on the throat nearest the front of the car, but I've done a mod to make the tool shorter. Works now. Thanks.

I can just sequeze mine into the gap on the +2 for cylinder four by deforming the rubber nose slightly.
