Improved Weber linkage

I’m not sure why people are so concerned about having 2 throttle cables but at the same time neglect to be concerned about the condition of the throttle return spring that’s internal inside the carb. When that breaks you can have a carb stuck on WOT. It’s not uncommon for it to do so as it wears where it’s hooked onto the pump rod cam. Mine had done so at some time in the past and the previous owner just cut the broken end off and bent a new loop on the spring rather than replacing it!! Always replace these springs whenever you do a carb overhaul

Do you run any “engine saving” devices. Like AFR failsafe, low oil or coolant engine shutdown stuff?

There comes a point when you need to consider whether you want to drive a new car or whether you want to drive an old car and whether the exercise of trying to turn an old car into a new car is worthwhile especially given that an old car is by nature a resource that is supply limited.

For me the most useful and cheap "bang for bucks" addition is a prominent oil pressure warning light for vehicles that as standard only have an oil pressure gauge. Sudden loss of oil pressure is the single fault condition that will cause the fastest demise of any engine. Oil cooling pipe, Spin on Filter cracks (had that happen before), oil pressure sender oil line failures, etc. can all cause a sudden loss in oil pressure.

I try to run low oil and coolant lights, time permitted.
Had never really considered the AFR, only wondering!

All done!
Fitted a new PTFE lined throttle cable, needed to shorten the pedal stop bolt to get full travel. All fitted easily, just had to use a shorter screw in the linkage to the left hand carb as the supplied one fouled on the manifold. Only hiccup was that one of the screws supplied to secure the bracket to the top of the carb had no slot in it! Made a temporary slot with a hacksaw and awaiting a replacement from Mangoletsi.
Sorry about the photos being rotated 90 degrees!

I knew I should have removed the protective covers off the wing, I know they clash horribly with the paint and were bound to offend someone!
