Revisiting this thread to provide an update. I finally had time last week to leave the Elan at VRM so they could weld in an O2 bung and try this again. It turns out that was the issue. With readings we could trust, the car went back on the dyno where Byron mapped a custom ignition curve and also played with needle height to get a decent mixture across the range. The plot below shows the starting point in blue and the final results in red. Great result, picking up at least 5 ft-lb of torque everywhere along the curve with peak increase of 7 hp and 7 ft-lb. Those peaks also occur over a wider range than before.
