Is the original tank to pump fuel line 1/4" diam.

Seems odd when each carb has 8mm (5/16") inlets?

Seems the original tank to pump fuel line is 1/4"

I was thinking of upsizing my complete tank to carbs fuel line to 8mm.

Not sure if this is unusual.......or the norm?

Why do you want to change it from what was original fitment?...It won't make the system work any better than originally. Just seems like a load of hassle for no gain to me.
I am afraid I don't understand why owners think they know better than the original manufacturer and change and alter things, fitting and doing all sorts unecessary alterations to their cars then wonder why they have problems.
Having said the above it is your car and you are obviously free to do whatever you wish but I would always say keep it as close to original as you can. :D

I have a mechanical pump with 8mm inlet and outlet spigots.
And Webers with 8mm inlets banjos.

So, I currently have 8mm pipe from pump to carbs.

I have 6mm pipe from tank to pump, with a 6-8 enlarger just before the pump.

I recently had a blockage of crud at the tank outlet, which is a 6mm banjo fitting.

So I thought that an 8mm tank outlet banjo would be less likely to block. And then I could have an 8mm pipe from the tank to the 8mm spigot at the pump.

Originality can be overdone.
Some things (eg wiring & corrosion protection) were less than good when originally constructed.
Other things (eg fuel piping, charging & starting equipment and cam profiles) have since improved.
The original fuel pipe material was unwise and its retention / like replacement would be foolhardy.
8mm offers the identified benefits over the original bore and is a sensible choice for a virtually invisible component

I'm not worried whether items are visible or not.
I just want them to operate efficiently.

So, have upsized the fuel line from tank to carbs to 8mm.

And at the lower tank outlet, have an in line fitting to replace the banjo, where the blockage happened.

Fuel hose turns nicely over the diff, and runs to the pump.

Fuel line should be between Chassis and Body if original.
