Carburettor (weber) specialist

PostPost by: sepans » Sat Oct 13, 2018 10:51 am

Hi, Live in Kingston, Surrey, looking for a carburettor specialist in this area.
Unless someone can help. Have totally rebuilt my S3 SE engine, and stripped and cleaned the carburettors today. I noticed that the carb operating no. 1&2 cylinder does not full open, it opens to aproximately 90%, it closes correctly, but is not in alignment to the other carb when it opens fully. It is not very often that I will be flooring the accelerator, the mechanism inside the carb works smoothly.
Any Ideas

Hi Brian,

Have you balanced your carbs with one of these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carburettor- ... :rk:1:pf:0

Also is the throttle linkage stock?

I am guessing the engine is not running like that?

Sounds like the adjustment between both sides of the linkage is way out, would play havoc on partial throttle openings.

I seem to recall that each side has a clamp for the initial settings then the adjustment screw, its been a long time!

Hi
many ( 40 !) years ago I used Southern Carburettors they were at Wimbledon then but they are still around at Crawley which is not too far from you and they have a web page which suggests they might be helpful.

hope this helps

best of luck

I knew Ian Smith (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ian-smith-1 ... bdomain=uk) when he was in Woking. He's now moved I think to Ascot but that page has his email. He is very much a Weber expert and I would definitely recommend him if he's still doing that work.

Check the internal throttle return spring position, remove top and check the pump jet pump can lift fully.
