Access to O ring at rear Stromberg float bowl

PostPost by: bdea » Sun Aug 19, 2018 11:06 pm

Does anyone know if I can access the rear Stromberg Carburetor Jet Cover O ring without removing the Rear Carburetor from the manifold? I want to remove the plug w O ring and replace the O ring since it was weeping.

Can you detach the motor mounts and possibly the transmission mount, then lift the motor high enough for the bottom of the rear carb to clear the footwell and remove the Jet Cover on a LHD?

Another question is why the fuel pump is so close to the footwell, about 1/8" clearance? Failed motor mounts ?? About 28 years old, low mileage of course. Both motor mounts look the same, so no mix up as required for webers.

TIA!,
Brad

I don't believe you can remove & replace it without removing the carb. If your car is LHD then you might be able to remove the rear carb but I haven't been able to do that without first removing the forward carb on my RHD car. The fuel pump is very close to the body I believe on all cars, it certainly is on mine but never hits the body.
