Ray,

Don't forget to ask him to clean all the drillings electrostically.

Regards,

Phil.

I really hope not Russ,I don't think the bank balance could take it!
Mind you, my son does seem to be getting very serious about his girlfriend,so who knows!

On a more serious note,I was rather surprised,to put it mildly, that when I removed the air box front, I found that the backplate and trumpets were only held by six nuts and clamping washers. Not quite what I expected to find after an ?18k rebuild!

I am not sure how much setting up the carbs will need when returned, but one of my local garages races an Anglia with twin Webers and has offered help if needed.
If not I shall be looking for a good rolling road/tuning specialist in my area. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful.

You sure your engine didn't ingest the other 2 nuts & washers?

...... I like the ingest term phil, because the actual digest traces we all know what they can look like

I certainly hope not Phil. I suspect that they lost the originals and just couldn't be bothered to look through the disorganised piles of parts at FS.I would have expected to see nice new nylon nuts as well, but in their infinite unquestionable wisdom, they fitted the old ones.
Peeved? More than a little!

They look good, as clean and shiny as the new set I bought recently.

How hard did they hit the wallet, Ray?

Rebuilt Webers fitted this morning, and after what seemed like ages for the electric pump to fill them, fired up beautifully. Tick over needed adjusting of course, and I think a little fine tuning will be needed, but a quick spin round the block was an absolute revelation. The car pulled strongly and without hesitation, from cold, and the change in power and response was quite amazing. I just have to be more careful in the wet,as I'm used to having to apply quite a bit of throttle to get it moving, and that now has the wheels scrabbling in the wet!
Thanks to Paul at Weber-carbs.co.uk. (No connection)
Quite expensive perhaps, but money very well spent!
