That's where I got mine. Thanks Bud, couldn't remember where I had purchased it years ago.

As suggested earlier I have located and purchased a s/h complete MX5 filler pipe complete with the one way valve off ebay for £8 including carriage. Why I messed around waiting for MX5parts to have stock for 6months I don't know!

I don't know about the UK but fuel prices here are so low you'd only need to save "so much money" to fill a +2. Saving "soo much money" would get you a a few tanks worth!

Guys, is this the filler neck recommended for this mod? It calls up as 1999-2005 Mazda Miata MX-5 NB Fuel Filler Neck. Bonus looks like this one has the valve in place. It is a lot larger than I was expecting! :D

Thanks

Stu

Yep, thats it. You only need the valve in the end on that right side. That and some adpators to fit it in a suitable place in your tank spout, or filler hose.

Thanks Chrispy. I can’t just mount the valve without the filler pipe then?

Stu- Just to confirm, you just mount the small black valve in your existing pipe. No need for the rest of the Mx5 filler pipe.

I used the cut-off end of the pipe to then fit into a reducer as in Dougal's post on page 2. Everything fit up nicely.

Excellent. Sounds like several variations. I wondered if the valve body could just me mounted without the cutoff filler pipe. I did read about Jon’s unfortunate experience with the valve dropping into the tank.

I bought the pictured filler pipe today and it should be here in a couple of weeks. I can get the rubber reducers locally, once I figure out how they are doing pickup and delivery.

Mine is a Axminster alloy tank with a potentially slightly different filler nozzle. May have another wrinkle.

Cheers and thanks

Stu

The root of my problem was the tank spigot not being the same diameter as the tank on the car being described in the original post that discusses this mod. Hence, I bought the two reducers recommended and they didn’t fit my spigot. Too tight, but only by a very small margin. So I tried to fit the valve to the rubber elbow, a bit loose perhaps and it must’ve got pushed into the tank.

So my understanding based on original post here, which I followed and worked is:-
- cut the existing mx5 pipe to exactly same length as fuel valve in place

- put the 2 rubber reducers around cut piece of pipe.
- on mine I cut down length of rubber reducers to be exact same length as cut pipe / valve and also get rid of lip on the rubber
- insert above into the fuel tank end of rubber hose , far enough in to allow connection back onto fuel tank
- use an extra hose clip to hold the inserted valve in place within fuel hose.

Voila , worked a treat

Hope that makes sense
