I actually left a 1~2mm wide lip on the inside at the top too to help me pull it out........
just something to get your fingers under......
the first one I did I made from aluminium and put a couple of small allen bolts in so I could pull it out......

Wow, thanks very much! A friend of mine has a lathe, so I might try knocking it up after dusting off my skills from university days!

I can confirm that the Mazda-bit is easy to do. No results yet though as the car is still inoperative.

At the risk of much clucking, there is an alternative.
I think the normal fuel inlet looks a bit like a carbuncle on the +2, so I quite like the
leakproof one.

It pains me greatly to mention it, but it was fitted by Spyder for the previous owner.
Total job (with paint) cost a fairly amazing ?445! Including a non leak neck? I assume the car not Wiggy.
Easily available many places as "aircraft style" and / or "flush fitting" although it looks more motorbike style to me. Works well (no leaks) and lockable.

Indeed ?25 > ?445 is a nice little earner. But at least it works!
If you want any more shots inside the boot just ask.

Thanks very much. Dare I ask if they made holes in the fibreglass to take those screws

I'll have a look. My guess is surely they must have!
Meanwhile here's a shot of Toad on West Wycombe hill. Above the Hell Fire Caves!
Spot the lack of carbuncle?

Yeah that is super slick! Looking great. I had a citroen yellow MGB GT when I was 20 and that shot brings back memories of it.

Here's a shot from underneath. Not much to see really.
It appears to have been quite well done so I imagine Spyder had it done somewhere else.
I'll have to see if I can move the rubber elbow up a touch and get rid of the kink!
