Engine won't rev above 5700rpm, suggestions?

Could it be something a silly as the throttle cable not giving you full throttle?

Hi Tony,

Sorry haven't seen your reply before. It turned out that the distributor cap was breaking up, and that the fuel pump was failing, so take your pick. But yes, having replaced the throttle cable recently it was one of the things I crossed off the list.
