Mike,

I believe all Federal cars with Strombergs, 1970 on were supplied with the evap canister. EPA decreed all OEMs go to an unvented fuel system.

The parts manual shows the change happening in 1971. My '70 +2S (fed) has no canister nor provisions for one.

Mike, my Sprint had the canister in the trunk. Been a midwest car for all its life, to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks guys.

I wonder if anyone took into account how long it would be before the canister became saturated with enough solids to make the car a rolling bomb..............

Not being trained in anything but smart remarks it seems logical to remove it. Unless I have this all wrong.
