I thought these pics might be of interest..I did manage to get the airbox in the Elan but it did need cutting. The heater works brilliantly and saves a huge amount of weight.

Hi jon1986eac(nice nick name !),
Seems you made deep mods on your Elan ... Injection !?!
I am very interested in your heater ...
Can you describe all the necessary parts and where buy them !?!
Christian.

I do like the look of your heater, can you tell us where and or how it was made?
Thanks

+1 , would be interested in where you sourced the heater.

The heater is made from welded aluminium tube with fabricated end flaps. (not by me though) I am not sure where the electric heater was sourced but I will try and find out. The weight saving is amazing but I dont think it would be any good for someone who is going to use a car in proper winter weather. The screen clears well and you get some warmth in the footwells and of course it is warm straight away. P.M if you would like the number of the chap who made it.

Going to need a motor/generator set to power the heater...
It's hard to beat cooling jacket waste heat for cabin heating. If you want small, just find a small heat exchanger and package it in a duct like the picture. If you took one of the HX blocks from the standard Elan heater box and combined it with a duct fan like that pictured above it would look pretty similar.
I bought a new aluminum minichannel Corvette heater core and a nice variable speed 12V electronics cooling fan on EBay for about $60 total. Put it in a folded sheet aluminum box and presto! Less than half the weight and volume but more heat and controllability.
Of course, building stuff like this is a hobby and not worth the time for most.
