Fuel Tank Outlet

The fuel tank outlet on my +2 (probably the same on the baby elan) consists of a ring-shaped piece of metal (banjo union)? and a threaded shaft that fits in the tank itself, with a couple of fibre washers to seal.

My "banjo union" has a damaged tube on it that the petrol pipe connects to, so I cannot get a really good seal. Consequently I have a very slow leak at that point.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Dave Chapman.

Hi Dave

Can you post a pic? I can't picture it.

Have a look at Demon tweeks website, they do lots of different banjo bolts =

That's a good web site, Jason.

The ring shaped piece is the banjo adaptor, and the other bit is the banjo bolt that screws in to the tank. I will take some measurements later on when I strip down the union and use that site to get a replacement.

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,
I recommend going to one of the Lotus specialists in the UK such as Sue Miller or Paul Matty. The banjo bolt at the fuel tank is a BSPP thread, I just can't recall the size right now. The banjo fitting itself has a gland type fitting for the fuel line. The fittings at Demon Tweeks are all very fine but for the most part are imperial or metric bits for brake or clutch applications, not what you need.

OK Russ,

I will try them as well when the time comes.

I like to keep thing original if I can....apart from the CV joints, replaceable water pump, large alternator, S130 alloys, extra box (muffler) in the exhaust, modern CD/radio, alarm.... :D

Cheers,

Dave.
