Just fitted a locking cap from P.Mattys and not to happy with fit..its on ok and locks fine but the latch at opposite end to hinge doesnt latch over far enough..any one any experience of this? When locked it appears to be sealed fine so i think seal is to deep,or wont spring back far enough...

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi Ian,
I recently replaced mine and had what sounds like the same problem. I fixed it by bending the tab on the filler neck out a bit to engage the latch better, then reshaped as needed. Worked a treat.

When I fitted a new one from PM to my S4 I had the opposite problem. The locking tab was too big and the cap would not close. I had to grind a bit of the tab, all is OK now.

With an old car there is always a bit of engineering improvisation required. 8)
