hi , have made manifold for stromberg head conversion , to single 40/45/48, webber/ delorto , was tested at knockhill at week end , with great success, good low down torque, more power , wide power band, starts on the button , no need to balance, unlike twin carbs, just had on rolling road , on standard engine , not big valves, not high comp, peaked at 132bhp@6500, at the wheels ,anyone interested in the 1066 inlet manifold , please get in touch , they are easy to fit , can get to master cylinder and clutch master cylinder, and changing dizzy is done in few minuites, no need for electric pump, as proved at weekend , any thought let me know , del

:o Sounds too good to be true. :o

I'm sure a lot of people will be very interested. So, if you're trying to sell this modification, I think pictures will be necessary.

132bhp @ the wheels.........
....thats more then a BV which is (+ -) 126 bhp @ the flywheel....forgive me but I am rather sceptical to say the least

hi thanks for looking , but this is no joke , at knockhill at the weekend all the classic scruinteers, ie robby macina, had a good look and took photos , as did some one from lotus owners club , sorry i didnt get your name , but if you read this it was you , it did cause a buzz in the paddock will try to upload pics , i was even amazed with the amount of pull it has , and clean power no coughs or sputters, at the moment just trying to get some feed back as to start production this is better than a webber head conversion no need to butcher a cylinder head direct bolt on , the price of stomberg head will rocket, estimated price @?380-420 depending how many orders if i get a order for say 200 then ?325-350, only thing left would be the carb but if you a friend you buy twin 45s of ebay split them half the cost , i recon with a developed engine port stromberg head, high comp , sprint cams170bhp is easy to acheive cheers del

With 170bhp the bottom end won't last very long.

Probably two goes on the rolling road and a couple of fast laps of Knockhill will suffice.

Del, while I dont doubt that a manifold can be fabricated, its the claimed power output that I (and others) have a problem accepting.
With a standard engine (118 +- flywheel HP) I very much doubt 100hp would be available at the wheels yet you are telling us 132 hp would be available at the wheels by fitting a single twin choke carb and no other modifications ..........sorry but in my mind the figures just dont add up and I cannot get my head round it :?
Can you post the results of the rolling road test :?:

Hi Del

My old S4 that ended up with a domestic stromberg 1558cc (118 hp rating)and was a much better daily driver than my high strung duel weber 45 1700cc twin cam (engine brake dyno at 150hp). That said, I sold the S4 when one needed to go and I still regret it. I don't think I would replace the Strombergs unless it was a pair of SU's. If I was to do any conversion I would go with John McCoys
( http://www.omnitech-engineering.com/auto/strom.asp )
twin weber conversion if I were to do one at all, if only for the proper look and I am sure that it has every thing that the stock twin weber has and probably a lot more.
Del I think you are going to have a tough sell in any event, mostly because you have answered the question that no one has really asked. Maybe with a fuel injection unit it would be sweet, I don't know but it still wouldn't look right. I hope I am wrong.

If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Just what I was thinking, Steve.
My Plus 2 with BDA engine had to have an AX block, bored out to 1700cc and big valves before it developed 170bhp. Damn!

I've got an old Jag Coupe that runs a pair of SUs...perhaps one Weber will make her go like the Broadspeed racer :D

well guys, if you would go on to you tube, type in knockhill classic speedfair lotus cortina 2008 you will see me being chased with 190bhp mgb, and the car filming is a 185bhp fia lotus cortina , and my elan red/white gold , is giving it everything on a standard engine, changing gear at 6500rpm , and pulling 6000rpm up the straight to the top of duffis and holding forth until macintyres, go on have a look , if you dont then you will never believe, regardless of what i say , and as for the manifold it has passage flow control, and thats the trick , cheers del
