Gents,
I seem to be sufering from leaks around the pump housing seals on both the carbs. Hav fitted new gaskets sets. Any ideas? and would a little hylomar on the gasket edges help?

cheers
Mark

Hi Mark,
If you've fitted the Dellorto pink rubber gaskets then you have the same trouble as me. I filled my carbs on the bench to adjust the pump volumes and they wept. I filled the float chambers and left them for a week in the hope they'd seal but the carbs just ended up empty.
Eurocarb, the UK Dellorto people refuse to believe there's anything wrong with their gaskets.
Can anyone advise as to whether using sealant is a good solution or if card gaskets are still available?

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. Yep pink gaskets, look really thin too.

Thats the same story I got, however they tried to say the bodies were warped. I used engineers blue to check and they were fine. They sent me a set of replacement gaskets and when I fitted these I used a very very very small, transparent even, film of hylomar around the OUTER edges (so it squeezed out, rather than in). Not sure of the results yet, only been on a few days.

I will post more feedback after a week.

cheers
Mark

Could it be the diaphragm on your accelerator pump that`s split?

Hi there,
I replaced all the gaskets, seals etc.

They leak from the upper body gasket and drip dpwn . I even renewed the "new" pump jet gaskets with new pump jet gaskets @?21.00 (again!!)

cheers

Well after after fittig a second set of gaskets they leaked again. Si I've made some from thin cork as I did on my Europa. No leaks after a 40 mile buzz today. Will post on how they survive. As an aside, Brian who posts on here told me he had the same problem at one time on his Europa too, but the problem went away.

Hi Mark,
I'm glad you've found an answer. Our friends still insist there's nothing wrong with their pink rubber gaskets and blame the customers for overtightening and warping their carbs. Funny, I never had this problem with card gaskets - wish I'd kept my old ones. What thickness cork do you recommend and what sort of place would stock it?

Best wishes,

Simon

Simon,
If you send me your address I will post you some, as I think I have enough left to do another pair. I will also mark out a template from my "pink" gaskets. You will need a wad puch to make the holes or something similar like steel tube.

cheers
