Strombergs v. Webers Advice please

PostPost by: tonycharente » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:19 pm

I am of course NOT in anyway biased (!!!!) but I think the highest roadtest top speed in period on a standard car was for an S4 SE coup? on Strombergs. Indeed there are those who would suggest that the ONLY reason the Elan Sprint had a lower 0-60 time was its use of a lower rear axle ratio (to overcome the extra weight - they did it again with the Elise...), although I'm sure the go-faster stripe down each side will have helped.

Enough worms in the can yet?

 Tony (S4SE coup? and early model S1 Elise....)

OK, OK you guys have persuaded me. Instead of wasting money on my fuel guzzling, overrated Dell'ortos, I shall ditch them and go Strombergs.

I know it is a small chance, but perhaps someone can be tricked into trading me straight up .........

Very kind, but No thanks - I forgot to mention that with a RHD drive car the Strombergs also ease access to the brake and clutch master cylinder top-up caps and to the distributor. I suspect the Stromberg set-up is also a fair bit lighter, easier to balance, harder to flood.

hi have just read your topic, i myself have just converted a s4 to road/race spec , and have made a adapter manifold for a single webber/ delorto carb ,i have used a webber45, with exceptional results , pulling 135 bhp @6500 on standard engine, the manifold is easy to fit can be fitted in about1hour, and the great thing you dont have to worry about carb balance , no need to have electric pump. if you would like a pic email me , [email protected] cheers del
