Weber leather throttle shaft seals

PostPost by: terrygahl » Sat Apr 01, 2006 10:26 am

Keith,

I remember you mentioning in a post that one of the weber tuning prerequisites was that the leather throttle shaft leather seals be fresh or replaced. However looking at the diagrams and the carb, it seems like the area sealed off by this shaft end seal is actually vented to the atmosphere. I could be mistaken though. Is this really that critical?

Reason for asking is that the current weber rebuild kit I bought does not contain those seals.

thanks, Terry

Terry, from other posts on the forum, I gather that Keith may not be posting here anymore (though I hope this gets proved wrong). Sadly, I don't know the answer to your question, but perhaps if you re-post it in the common items thread you'll hit a larger audience and find someone who knows?

Matt,

Tks for the heads up.

Keith responded somehow directly to me.

Short answer is that any leaking due to this area is only significant on overun where there is usually high vacuum.
