Hard to start hot? Stalls easily....Carb issue?

If you do decide to replace your carbs you can identify suitable ones for the Elan by the spec numbers which are stamped on the bottom edge of the mounting flange.
According to the Burlen website these specs were used for the Elan over the years......
3175F 3175R
3296F 3296R
3322L 3322R
3396L 3367R (Emission)
3517L 3517R
The different suffixes denote front or rear. The emission version is obviously different but I don't know what the differences might be between the other variants - fixed Vs adjustable jets and needles is probably one of them.
