Position of air filter box

Hi
My 1969 Elan plus 2 came without a filter box . I bought one from this site a few years ago and I am now ready to fit it . After a full respray the holes have been filled and I cant see where the box goes . The workshop manual seems to show it bolted flat to the bottom but the brackets on the box would mean it fitting sideways .
Could anyone post a picture of how theirs is fitted
Thanks John.

That's the question isn't it. The answer depends on who was working that day.
My +2S(fed) had it mounted as Rohan shows in his photo toward the end of this thread.

They were originally mounted flat which gave problems with the casing filling up with water. At this stage Lotus recomended a 3/4" diameter drain hole was put in the casing.
Later with a change of ducting they were mounted verticle or on edge. The Lotus recomendation was that all cars used the new ducting and the new air filter orientation.
Hope this helps
