Weber throttle linkage

I saw one of these on an Opel GT with dual DCOEs and thought it to be pretty slick. Anyone try one
on their Elan?

Hi Greg,

I bought one for my +2, but to get it to fit you have to shave quite a bit of the webbing between the inlet ports on the head. I chickened out and let it as standard.

I bought one and yes, you have to cut out a section but I didn't think it was a big deal.

RD Enterprises sells a very simple top-aft carb mounted throttle mechanism that doesn't require any modification at all. It fastens to the aft carb with three of the top cover screws. It only sticks up about 10 mm above carb. Very simple and has worked well for me. I tried to load a picture but no luck.

Thanks webbslingr but I just removed that linkage because it had a lot of slop. To be fair, I bought it used, not
from RD. I went back to oem setup while I figure out 1) how to remove the slop, 2) find an alternative.

My oem throttle cable are not very smooth and the bike shops around here (so far) have not been able to
make an equivalent. With the RD low profile type, I was able to make up a brand new cable and it was very
smooth. So, basically I'm shopping around, at this point.

I wasn't that happy with my RD throttle until carefully tweaking the linkage so it lined up just right. Next I got rid of the supplied allen head bolts and replaced them with regular hex head bolts that you can get wrenchs straight on in the limited space. Last, I made sure the bushings were aligned right so the nuts can be tightened against the shoulders of the bushings allowing the linkage to move freely. Very little slop now and what there is is only side to side where it doesn't matter.

Yep, exactly where the slop is. I ruined the two little top hat bushings, trying to get the slop out but it didn't work.
