air box hole for return spring

PostPost by: dgym » Sat Oct 04, 2014 3:24 am

Hi All,
I'm currently trying to get my throttle setup back to original , have removed the PO's backwards setup and springs, and I have the correct throttle cable and spring,
everything id going swimmingly until I realize that the bracket on my airbox doesn't have a little hole for the return spring to hook through (see pic)

was there an alternate way to hook up the spring? should I just drill the hole?
I have a S3 late 1966 with dellortos.

cheers!

I believe the original springs (if any fitted) where a circular type on the throttle lever on the carbs. Item 102 on the relevant parts diagram.

Are you sure you have it set up right? the lotus setup is backwards to what I expected. Cable end secures to air box, outer case to the carb lever.

I am having a little trouble understanding how a spring to air box would assist closing the throttle not open it.... (but my car has been changed over to webbers by a po).

yes im sure i'm doing it right (the backwards lotus way with sheath connected to throttle and cable connected to back plate)
I've read all the posts about it and looked at all the pictures, so im confident about what i'm trying to do.

the problem i'm having is that everyone else seems to have a small hole in their air box where the clothes peg style spring hooks in.

yes you need to just drill the hole to fit the original spring.
