fuel gauge

PostPost by: kerryblu » Fri May 13, 2011 9:05 pm

Hi all,

looked in the archive, but coudn't get it into my head, heres the problem, with the ign. on there is no movement on the fuel gauge but when the green/black wire from the sender unit is earth out the fuel gauge goes to full.
So is the problem 1) the voltage stablizer,
2) the fuel gauge,
3) the sender unit?
how can you test the sender unit? I have no meter of any kind.
For a S4 70 DHC OEW

P.S. posted it in the wrong place this evening.

Good meters are really cheap nowadays, it doesn't make sense to not have one.

If the sender is grounded correctly, it sounds like you have a broken wire in the sender. The gauge should read full when the sender wire is grounded, so that sounds OK.
