Handbrake lever and pads?

PostPost by: neilcritter » Wed May 04, 2022 2:35 am

 Does anyone know of a source for a used or reproduction handbrake lever assembly (Item 026 J 705)?

I'm also seeking a set of hand brake pads (026 J 0518)?

Thank you for any suggestions or directions!

Neil,

Hand brake pads are available in the UK, I use Sue Miller. Whilst I realise you are not in UK, Sue also has some odd old parts, so worth asking her. She is an old lady so you may have to be patient trying to contact her.

Hope this helps,

She's not old, she just has experience. Be careful what you say to a lady.

I may have a spare handbrake lever if you can't find one. I'm moving storage next week to a shop and will have a look. No idea what it is worth, or if you are overseas and shipping would make it prohibitive. I'm in North Carolina, USA.

Neil - here is a picture of the one I have. I noted 2 part numbers in the parts list, so suspect they are handed depending on LHD/RHD and not certain this is the one you need.

WONDERFUL HENRY! :D

Thank you! I'll send you a direct message to work out the details.

It's another LotusElan.net MIRACLE!

I also sourced a set of 4 handbrake pads from eBay.

Neil/Henry,

The cable guide piece appears to be missing from the lever in the photo. If you don't already have one it might be worth checking if it's there/available to avoid future problems.

When I overhauled my lever I found this Youtube very useful. It's for a Europa but it's basically the same. He fits the cable guide @10.45.

Thanks for the video and comment Mike! That video is another great resource for our project. I can see what you mean by that aluminum backing missing. I'm still going the buy the part from Henry and if I need to machine it or come up with some other adapter we'll do that.

Neil,

There is someone using the name bitsilly selling various bits, one of the photos shows two handbrake pulls/ levers which you are looking for.

Hope this helps,

I have just looked at the ones I gave and they are all like the photo.
Should they be flatted or reshoed (or whatever the term is) or do they work regardless?
Cheers
