Cylinder Head wanted

PostPost by: Charles73 » Mon Sep 27, 2021 8:16 am

I'm looking for a replacement cylinder head for my S4 to take Weber carbs.

Or if anyone has info on adapting my current head to take Webers instead of Strombergs, that would also be much appreciated.

Thanks
Charles

QED offers some with various options (no affiliation)

( John McCoy head modifications having already been discussed on your similar query on FB )

Hi Charles
Here is a link to John McCoy's page regarding the sort of conversion you have asked about, its over three pages (the first is only the cover), both the following are in the States but I am sure I have seen someone this side of the water doing it too, no doubt someone else will come along with more details,

Also Dave Bean has come up with a solution too

I think its quite an expensive conversion from memory but as Stromberg heads for some reason don't seem to be messed about with as much as Stromberg heads then the initial cost of finding one can be lower.

There was a head on fleabag only a couple of weeks ago where the Stromberg inlets had already been cut off, not sure if it sold but was cheap and may be worth picking up to do your conversion save wrecking your head.

I have a couple of heads but they are with my engine builder for checking so perhaps I ought to chase him up and see if any might suit.
Send me a pm so we can link up for pictures, but it won't happen for a little while due to numerous up coming hospital appointments.

Charles,

Where are you located? I have a Elan Weber head, but I'm in the US.

I'm UK based. So far, the only solutions outside of purchasing a new head are in the US!

I will continue my quest here in UK for now

Many thanks
