Hi Midget and welcome to the forum.

S4 Window frames are generally unobtainable ( one of the few Elan bits you cant readily buy :( ) and get snapped up for ridiculous prices whenever they appear so it may take some time to find some at a price you're prepared to pay. If you have damaged frames they can usually be rebuilt with a bit of effort and there are posts here about how people have done it.

cheers

There’s a chap in England making new ones for about £700 each. Sounds steep but by the time you’ve found an old pair and refurbished them it will probably be the same. PM me and I’ll forward is contact details.

More like over a 1000 wasn't, it if my memory serves me right.
Likelihood of finding used ones is very very slim. Again, heavy money for them.

The previous owner decided to cut off part of the top frame for some reason which leaves a stub beside the door lock end and a section up to the top of the screen frame at the other end!!

Assuming you have the contact details of the remanufacturer I’d ask whether he can graft on the missing parts of your frame (after all it should save him some work and maybe you some money).

i'd like to see someone "modify" a set of Plus2 door frames as i have a nice pair of those for sale. I could have sold them 10 times over if they were for the Elan only.
has anyone tried to do that??

Apart from being a totally different size and shape meaning you’d have to start again are they not a different profile?

I have a pr of super safety window frames, in nice condition. They have the door handle on the frame. Send me an email and I can send you photos. Shipping from Florida may be a few $$

Have you found a pair of frames? I may have a pair of Series 4 frames that would be of interest to you ... Steve

Hi again ...

I will sort out some pictures for you for the weekend. Both frames are in really good serviceable condition but you can judge this for yourself when I get you some images to look at.

I also have a pair of Series 3 frames I may want to sell ... one is mint and one is in need of repair.

My car has a brand new pair made by a guy name Brian. This was a quite a few years ago but he did a superb job for me.

I will respond again shortly.

I've thought about making a set or more from Aluminum to then use Lexan windows for use on a race or track day modified car. The original steel/ brass window frames and glass windows are heavy.
