Lotus Elan

Wolf race wheels

PostPost by: h20hamelan » Thu Feb 25, 2021 7:13 pm

Hoping for 13’s 5.5 or 6. Then again, I wonder if 14 or even 15 is not the way to go?
Any out there for sale please.

Haven’t heard back from Wolfrace, guessing there is not enough interest in producing a series. Group buy! Maybe a half dozen in N. America and another 6 in UK, not sure what minimum order would be.

Are they not the preferred Elan wheel?

they pop up from time to time in Europe... not the most expensive alloy wheels (the design does look a bit American I guess) - I assume you are considering KO hubs

as for 14" or up, getting the suitable clearance may require bodywork, messing with elan wheels requires some care and patience (esp. for 2 seaters) ...

I like the 5 spoke (?) design, if Revolution still built theirs and the prices were comparable.
The Wolf is probably easier to clean, also leave more clean lines and nice for K/O.

here's a local add (3-4 hours south from Paris) 4x 5.5" KO (no affiliation)

NB: these appear to have a bolted steel inner flange with the 5 peg holes (I had a set of period 4 spokes Revolutions like that - though recently sold it) not sure if they were all like that...

I'm not sure, shipping has been getting very expensive, just to here as from the US ...

The regular Post Office offers a service up to 20kg, I would think 2 wheels in a box could be sent below 15kg which seems to be 169 euros (in effect doubling the price...)

There may be courriers, though the cheaper ones I usually use only ship within Europe. UPS Express Saver most likely would cover your destination, but I can't easily get a quote somehow... (al shipping details required, zipcode etc)
