Lotus Elan

Stromberg air box

PostPost by: JerryBoone » Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:10 pm

The airbox for my Strombergs looks like it has been around for more than 50 years and has been the subject of some casual wrench turning by folks who should know better. It is a bit of a mess. Cracks. Patches. Holes where they don't belong. Before I launch into the process of making my own, I figure it is worth asking if someone has a good one they might be willing to sell. I know some owners have converted to Weber heads, so I'm hoping there is a decent one on a shelf somewhere. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum Jerry!

Please tells us if your car is an Elan or a Plus 2, because the Stromberg airboxes are not interchangeable between the two due to the angle of the spigot at the front being different.

Thanks. Mine's an S4 DHC. I've resigned myself to making my own. It's a job I'll tackle during the "off season" as I'm enjoying the new project too much to take it off the road right now.
