Gears or complete gearbox for semiclose ratio 'box

PostPost by: promotor » Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:58 am

I'm looking for an input shaft / main drive gear and a cluster gear for a semi-close ratio gearbox to complete a gearbox rebuild for a customer so that they can get their car back on the road.
Does anyone have any spares knocking around?
I may also consider a complete gearbox if one is available.
Other individual parts/gears may be considered for other rebuilds if anyone wants to thin their collection down?

Please PM me if you think you can help.

Cheers.

Just a quick thank you for the two C/R gearboxes and diffs that you have rebuilt for me, they are working perfectly :D

I have a complete semi-close box out of an S4 Alistair. Condition unknown but the owner I bought it off swapped it out for a 5 speed 20 years back, and didn't think it had any problems. It owes me £450 though!

You need a little run down to Gloucester!!

Cheers Rob, glad to hear they're good! It's good to know cars are staying on the road and I've helped in some way!

Thanks Mark, can you PM me some photos so I can get an initial idea of condition?

It's not apart, Alistair. Not sure what you can tell from the casing, but happy to take some photos.

Understood Mark. If it's been stood for 20 years the input and output shafts may or may not be showing signs of moisture etc. Also, it'd be good to see how complete it is.
Cheers.

Cheers for the photos Mark, looks like it may be worth a look. Are you looking to get your money back?

Not sure when I would be able to get down to have a look as it's a fair trek for a viewing. Are you wanting to move it on ASAP?

It's been here more than 20 years Alistair, there's no hurry to sell it. Next time you're passing eh?!

Ok Mark, sounds fair enough, thanks! I haven't sourced the parts yet so this is still a possibility for me. Will see how things go and will be in touch if not sorted in the next month or two.

Cheers.
