Lotus Elan

Weber DCOE for Elan needed

PostPost by: tvacc » Sat May 16, 2020 6:35 pm

Hi all,
I just bought, well in November, a right hand drive Elan Coupe, 1967 from an estate. Someone has absconded with one of the Webers before I got the car. So I am looking for an Elan Weber, or a set or Dellortos. If anyone has something let me know.

As an aside, this will be my last project. Actually my son will be doing it. Medical issues has forced me to stop working on cars to the extent of being able to wrench heavy torques, pull motors or anything else that requires use of my stomach muscles.

So, I have two 5 Speed "PROJECT" Twin Cam Europas that I need to sell if anyone is interested. Located in Buffalo NY. One is a 1974 Special and the other is a real JPS, 1973 #15. email me at tvacc*at*lotusowners*dot* you know where if you are interested.

Thank you very much for the link. I am reluctant to buy anything from someone that does not allow returns and charges $61 for shipping.

Wise decision, Tony. Plus that Weber is a later 151 series and the chokes are not interchangeable with the earlier DCOE's. Hope you can still enjoy your Lotus challenges. Cheer. Mike.

If it’s intended to buy a single carburettor make sure it’s of the same type. Weber 40 DCOE has many variations check the type you have, examples used on a Twincam, in 1967 Lotus used 40DCOE 18 later a 40DCOE 31, these last digits denote the carburettor body type and is a non-variable.
Remember you also need the correct Jets Chokes etc for your engine, lots on this forum on standard setup.

Hi Tony. Sorry to hear about your issues - I know it's hard to pull back on car projects. I have a pair of DCOE18s that were from a Rabbit. The airbox side mounting ears were damaged in shipping on both but I believe they are fully servicable with a little JB Weld if aesthetics are not the issue. No problem splitting them up, I haven't used them since the 80s. Also kind of interested in your Europas although I don't have room:-) What do they need? I'm in central CT. Feel free to PM. Tom
