Lotus Elan

Lattice Steel surrounding the door opening.

PostPost by: Famous Frank » Tue Feb 18, 2020 3:39 am

Wanted: The Lattice Steel that surrounds the door opening on the S1 and S2 Elan. I am looking for both sides. Or does anyone know of anyone reproducing them?

I have a new 26R body shell. There is no Lattice in the new body. Normally this is not a concern because this would have been resolved with the installation of a complete roll cage. But this will be brought back to life as a street car without a full cage so the Lattice is necessary.

Thank you, Frank

Boss Motors makes them, I think 250 GBP each. But does not ship them. too much trouble, it seems.
I had mine collected
1964 S1 (engine ready, awainting body repair)
1967 S3 DHC (now adjusted by Brian Buckland, totally calm idle)
1969 S4 FHC (finishing interior, changing wiring loom)

The TTR ones in their 26R shell are aluminium. You could see if they will sell them?

Hi Frank

I purchased a pair of steel lattice frames from Tony Thompson 2 years ago and they are as original specification and superb. They come with all necessary trim brackets as well, just need painting.

Here's a picture of part of the lattice frame that supports the door opening space.
the photo is from when I replaced my fuel pipe with a hard kunifer one and routed it in the cab under the door.
